SRA price & service transparency: what your website must show

Since 2018 the SRA Transparency Rules have required regulated firms to publish certain price and service information for specified types of work, so the public can compare and make informed choices. This is a practical overview — always check the current rules on the SRA website for the detail that applies to your firm.

Who the rules apply to

The rules apply to SRA-regulated firms that carry out the specific categories of work named in the rules — for individuals and for businesses. Even if you don’t do that work, the rules around displaying the SRA digital badge and complaints information still apply broadly.

What you generally need to publish

  • The price (or how you calculate it) for the relevant services, including VAT and likely disbursements
  • A description of the service and what it includes
  • Key stages and typical timescales
  • The experience and qualifications of those carrying out the work
  • Clear information about how to complain, to the firm and to the Legal Ombudsman

Where it should appear

Price and service information should be in a prominent place on your website and easy to find. The SRA also expects firms to display its digital badge, which links to verified regulatory information.

How Fitzentic helps

Fitzentic gives each firm a structured public transparency page for price and service information, kept alongside the matters it relates to — so the published figures reflect how you actually price work, and updates are simple.

This guide is general information for UK firms, not legal advice. Always check the current rules and guidance that apply to your firm.
